Tipra Motha Rally bound vehicles meet mishaps: One dead, 30 injured
In two separate road accidents, one person died while at least 30 persons were injured. They were coming different areas to participate in public rally called by Tipra Motha at Astabal Ground on Saturday.
A group of Tipra Motha supporters started journey from Sidhai under West Tripura district in a Commander jeep to attend the rally. As the reached Chanmari crossing near Agartala Shalbagan, a Tipper truck coming from the opposite direction collided with the jeep. In the accident one person was killed while eight others sustained injuries. Sources said the deceased was identified as Takai Debbarma.
Meantime, in another road mishap, at least 22 persons sustained injuries on their way to Astabal ground. Sources said, the Tipra Motha supporters were coming to Astabal ground in a Bolero car. At Shibbari area under Dhalai district, the car skidded off the road and 22 supporters were hurt. Among them, four were admitted to Kulai Hospital.
Pension Week Observed
The State level Pension Week was observed on Saturday. The observance programme was held in the Shram Bhavan in Agartala. Minister of the Labour Department Bhagaban Das was present in the programme along with Labour Commissioner Naresh Babu N. Besides, Joint Commissioner Baijayanta Das and Labour union leader Biplab Kar were also present in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhagaban Das said, keeping in mind the necessity of elderly labourers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Pradhan Mantri Shramyogi Maan – Dhan Scheme.
However, the previous government was not sincere enough in generating awareness among the people about the benefits of the scheme. As a result, a good number of beneficiaries remained out of the ambit of the scheme. He said, incumbent government is trying to reach the beneficiaries.
During the programme, dignitaries handed over Pradhan Mantri Shramyogi Maan – Dhan Scheme and Rastriya Pension Yojana cards to the beneficiaries.
