Tripura Bounce Back with a Bang: U-14 Girls Crush Andaman 10-1 in Natl Sub-Jr Football

Tripura made a remarkable comeback In the Under-14 girls' sub-junior football tournament on Tuesday by defeating Andaman and Nicobar. In the match held at Nimuchi in  Madhya Pradesh, Tripura thrashed Andaman and Nicobar 10-1. The scoreline could have easily been 16-1, such was the dominance of the Tripura team.

Tripura players missed several easy opportunities in the first half, putting their team under pressure. However, the State team transformed in the second half. Andaman's players were overwhelmed by the continuous attacks led by State girls. Tripura continued to find the back of the net repeatedly. Brijia Debbarma scored four goals, including a hat-trick, and the team captain, Ramika Reang, also netted a hat-trick. Khumpui Debbarma scored two, and Jahina Chakma added one to the tally.

If they win that match, they will have a chance to advance from the group, said the team manager, Purnima Das. Speaking over the phone from Nimuchi, Purnima Das said, "We could have won by a much larger margin. The missed opportunities in the first half were inexcusable. However, today's victory will boost the girls' morale before the next match."

In the first match on September 8, Tripura's under-14 girls' football team faced a crushing defeat at the hands of Andhra Pradesh in the sub-junior football tournament held in Nimuchi in Madhya Pradesh. In their first match of the tournament, Tripura was thrashed 1-7 by Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh dominated the match from the very beginning, maintaining a strong hold on the ball. Tripura team was trailing 1-4 at halftime. Lal Muiya Reang scored the lone goal for Tripura. The situation worsened for Tripura in the second half, especially after Tripura captain, Remika Reang, had to leave the field due to an injury.

Tripura's manager, Purnima Das, attributed the loss to the team's inability to maintain their initial momentum and the superior training of the Andhra Pradesh players who were from a state academy. She expressed hope that the team would perform better in their next match.
