For the first time ever, natural rubber grown in Tripura was exported to Nepal and the new journey of Tripura Rubber started from Agartala on Saturday.
Natural rubber trading between Tripura and Nepal was officially launched on Saturday as the first rubber-laden lorry had started its journey for Nepal from Rubber Board India complex Kunjaban in Agartala today.
TIDC Chairman Tinku Roy along with Chief Minister’s wife and Purvaudaya General Secretary Niti Deb and other higher officials of the Industries and other concerned departments flagged off the first consignment of rubber from Kunjaban.
“In the first consignment, we have sent 18 metric tons of sheet rubber for Nepal. Usually, Nepal imports rubber from Vietnam and Myanmar. This is the first time that they have shown interest in importing rubber from Tripura. This can be proved a game-changer for the state’s rubber Industry and Rubber growers”, said a highly placed official in the Rubber Board India.
On being asked about the future plans, he said, the first consignment will reach Nepal within seven to eight days. “If they become satisfied with our raw product, they will certainly get back to us with more demands”, the official maintained.
According to a press statement, Rubber Board India owned marketing company Manimalayar Rubbers Private Limited has made this possible in collaboration with M/s Jay Shree Company Pvt. Ltd. 161-Santushti, Samjhana Chowk, Post box 36, Biratnagar, Nepal, the company that is importing the goods.
Among others, Dr. Parshanta Kumar Goyal IAS Secretary Industries & Commerce, and Girijamony K. A., Jt. Rubber Production Commissioner of Rubber Board attended the programme.
