The 6th Schedule Day was observed in the Tripura District Council (ADC) areas amidst usual fanfare and gaiety on Monday. The main programme was held at Khumpui Academy ground in Khumulwng adhering to Covid19 pandemic protocols.
Chief Executive Member Purnachandra Jamatia inaugurated the programme in presence of MDC cum Advisor and chairman of Administrative Reforms, Pradyot Kishore, ADC Chairman Jagadish Debbarma, former MP Bibhu Devi and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Pradyot Kishore reiterated that Motha would not forge an alliance with any parties and he expressed hope that the Central Government would fulfil the demand for ‘Greater Tipra Land’.
Pradyot Kishore said, “Greater Tipraland is our right as per the Constitution. The Central Government formed several new States according to the rights conferred by the Constitution”. He urged for a united struggle to fulfil the Greater Tipra Land demand.
On turncoats, Debbarman said, several people joined the National parties quitting the regional parties – “However, I wonder about their contributions in the development of people”, he commented.
Debbarma also said financial condition of the ADC is very much bad, so much so that even 38 years after the formation, allocation for ADC is less than Municipal Councils. With this limited fund allocation, it is difficult to work for the development of people, he commented.
The 6th Schedule Day – also known as the ADC Foundation Day was observed in other parts of the State including at Ampi.
TIPRA Motha and its frontal organizations jointly observed the 6th Schedule Day in Tentui Bari High School premises under Ampi on Monday.
A rally was held which marched through Ampi-Amar Pur road in Tentui Bari and Chechua areas. Incumbent MDC Sadagar Kalai inaugurated the observance programme in presence of other Tipra Motha leaders.
During the programme, a total of 102 new voters joined Tipra Motha today.
IPFT and its frontal organizations also held a programme to observe the Tipraland Statehood Demand Day at Ampi Nagar mini stadium.
Incumbent IPFT MLA Sindhu Chandra Jamatia was present in the programme. IPFT also held a rally on Ampi-Amar Pur road.
