Tripura News: BJP lists brutalities during LF era

Tripura Pradesh BJP vehemently opposed the views of Opposition leader Manik Sarkar on prevailing law and order situation of the State. After Sarkar criticized the incumbent BJP-led Tripura Government highlighting recent lynching and political violence in the State, BJP leaders slammed Manik Sarkar and came out with a list of lynching and atrocities that rattled the nerve of people of the State during previous LF regime.

Addressing a press conference today, BJP MLA Ratan Chakraborty said there were several incidences of lynching during previous LF Government. Not just common people, even public representatives were not spared.

“During the Left Front period, there were lynching incidences at Khowai, Amtali, Khyerpur and other areas. SDM and MLAs were also not spared at that time”, Chakraborty said and alleged, Manik Sarkar remained mum during such atrocities and his arrogance remained unaltered.

Blaming Sarkar for several other atrocities during Manik Sarkar’s rule, Chakraborty suggested the CPM leader play the role of a responsible opposition at present – if they can do it, it would benefit the people. Working for the benefit is the summary of democracy and the root source of power in democracy, the MLA commented.

Vehemently denying the allegations of Manik Sarkar on law and order condition of the State, BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee mentioned incidences rape and mass beatings. He said an opposition candidate was raped and then hanged on a tree at Telaimura during the LF regime. Bhattacharjee also referred to an incident at Belonia during the LF government in which one person was tied with a tree and beaten.

He said, such things are part of the Marxian culture and it is evident across the countries. Marxists have become irrelevant in Parliamentary democracy now.

“In view of such brutal incidents, Manik Sarkar does not have any right to comment on law and situation now”, Bhattacharjee said.
