Tripura News: Covid claims 9 more; DM orders Covid test for at least one person of every family in AMC area
Recoveries continue to outnumber fresh Covid positive cases in Tripura. During last 24-hours, fresh 595 Covid positive cases were detected while 722 patients recovered. However, 9 persons succumbed to Covid19 and with this, cumulative total of death breached the 500 mark today.
According to daily media bulletin, 8431 samples were tested across the State during last 24 hours – out of which 595 persons tested Covid positive. West Tripura district continues to be the worst sufferer as 283 positive cases out of 595 cases were detected in the West Tripura. South District and Unakoti recorded 79 and 55 positive cases respectively. Dhalai, Sepahijala and Gomati districts registered 52, 44 and 34 respectively. North district recorded 32 cases while 16 cases were found in Khowai.
Covid positivity rate climbed up to 7.06 per cent during last 24 hours. Cumulative total of number death stands at 504 so far with fatality rate is 1.01 per cent.
Meanwhile, in view of the present situation West Tripura District administration has decided to conduct Covid tests on at least one person of every family residing under AMC area.
In an order issued on Saturday, DM of West District Raval Hamendra Kumar, IAS said, “It is noticed that the spread of this fatal pandemic (Covid19) is rising leaps and bounds specially in Agartala Municipal Corporation area.
Considering the emerging situation the DM ordered to take measures and said, “At least one person from each and every family residing under Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) will have to undergo Covid-19 test from nearby Covid testing Centre. In case if one of the family members is found positive then all members will be tested and advised for home isolation”.
He also mentioned, the CMO shall ensure the testing of individuals for Covid19 for at least one family member of each family under AMC area. The SDM and the Municipal Commissioner shall also take immediate step for wide publicity in AMC area.
