Tipra Motha chairman Pradyot Kishore Debbarma asserted Motha will contest Assembly Polls on its own and will fight to form the ‘Greater Tipra Land’. He urged the people of the 19 different Indigenous communities of the State to be united shunning differences among them.
Pradyot Kishore was speaking at a programme held at TTAADC headquarters at Khumulwng on Thursday to commemorate the 113th Birth Anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya – the last king of the Manikya dynasty and the 185th King of Tripura.
A statue of the Maharaja was unveiled on this occasion. Among others, ‘Rajmata’ Bibhu Devi along with Chief Executive Member (CEM) of TTAADC Purnachandra Jamatia was also present in the programme to mark the birth anniversary of the Maharaja.
According to a press release issued by the TTAADC administration, Pradyot Kishore said, “We will fight the upcoming Assembly polls alone and form Greater Tipraland. I am urging the 19 dafa Tiprasa to work together in the fight to achieve the constitutional rights by shunning conflicts”.
In this connection, he also stressed on successful completion of the works that Maharaja Bir Bikram had started in his time but could not finish.
Debbarma said Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya initiated several activities to transform the State into a modern State. However, many of his activities remained incomplete due to his untimely demise and emphasized finishing the incomplete tasks of the Maharaja.
Venting his displeasure, Debbarma said, “Maharaja Kirit Bikram donated 25 acres land to set up GB Hospital. However, the State governments made no reference to the donation of the Maharaja – neither by naming the hospital in Maharaja’s name nor by placing anything remembering the king”.
He also lamented that names of villages, hills, river, rivulets and haat Bazars had been changed into Bengali names from original Kokbarok names. Debbarma stressed restoring the original Kokbarok names.
Pradyut Kishore Debbarma also said that a Foundation would be set up in the memory of Maharaja Bir Bikram and the fund of the Foundation would be utilized for the welfare of indigenous people.
