Burglars entered a temple of Maa Manasha and decamped with valuables including the jewelry of more than Rs 2 lakh last night. The incident took place at Kanchan Nagar under Santirbazar in the South district.
According to sources, with Night Curfew in force, people return home by 6 pm and rural areas and hamlets become secluded. The thieves took advantage of this and stole jewelry of the idol, other valuables, and money from the donation box. Locals claimed that thieves took away jewelry worth Rs 2 lakh. Besides, took away unaccounted money from the Donation Box.
Locals questioned the role of the Santirbazar Police and demanded regular patrolling during Night Curfew so that miscreants do not get a free hand to operate.
Police arrested two Bangladeshi youths from Birampur Border area under Jatrapur in Sepahijala district on Wednesday. Acting on tip-off, Jatrapur Police nabbed Suman Mian (29) and Sahid Mian (25) of Talpatti area in Comilla District of Bangladesh. They entered Birampur after crossing barbed wire fencing along Indo-Bangla border illegally. Both of them have been sent to Sonamura Jail after Police produced the duo before the local court.
Narayan Shil, a 55-year-old daily laborer from Bishalgarh office Tilla is now a very confused person as within a span of a day he tested Covid positive and negative. He is clueless as to whether he is corona infected. He is now under serious mental stress.
Rapid antigen tests were being carried out in the neighborhoods as per the instructions of the government. A sample of Narayan Shil was also tested. Health workers told him that he was corona positive and gave him a certificate. However, Shil did not have any symptoms of the corona.
On Thursday morning he went to Hapania Hospital and underwent a test there. And, this time, he was found Covid negative.
From this point, his dilemma started as he is unable to decide as to which report is correct.
Meanwhile, Health Officer of Bishalgarh, Jyotirmoy Das advised him not to panic and stay in isolation for two weeks.
