Founder president of Kumarghat press club and a veteran journalist, Manik Lal Das passed away at GB Hospital in Agartala on Sunday morning. He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter. He was 65 years old.
Das was suffering from Covid19 and his health condition deteriorated on Wednesday last. He was immediately taken to Kailashahar Covid Care Centre. However, in-charge doctor referred him to GB Hospital in Agartala. He died of Covid today morning.
While undergoing treatment at GB Hospital, Pranab Sarkar, General Secretary of Tripura Journalists Union and also the secretary of Agartala Press Club played an active role to ensure proper treatment for Das. .
After his death, Sarkar helped the bereaved family in cremating the deceased person at Battala crematorium in Agartala. He also made arrangements for the relatives of Das to return to Kumarghat after cremation. Meanwhile, Tripura Journalists Union and Agartala Press Club paid tributes to departed soul and extended sympathy to bereaved family members of Manik Lal Das.

On behalf of the Tripura Journalists Union of Unkoti District Committee, Assistant Secretary of Kumarghat Press Club Ashutosh Pal paid deepest respects to the departed soul and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
