On the birth anniversary of country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Tripura Pradesh Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman came down heavily on the Government for 'not conducting any big programme on Children's Day'. He also slammed the Central Government for 'distorting' the history and highlighted roles of Nehru and others in freedom fight as well as rebuilding the country in post-independence period.
Addressing a press meeting in Agartala on Monday (Nov 14), Roy Barman also focused on other issues and criticized the State Government.
Talking about the Health sector, the Congress MLA demanded a special audit for funds received from the Central Government as well as from public donations during Covid Pandemic. He demanded the report of the special audit to be placed within December, 2022.
"Many temporary hospitals were setup and large quantities of materials including ventilators were purchased to cater the needs of the Covid patients. Where these materials are now", Roy Barman asked.
He also wanted the government to come out with a statement pertaining the status of proposals like setting up AIIMS like hospital and understanding with the Apollo hospital authority.
Blaming the BJP leaders for cultivating false dreams, Roy Barman said the state government has announced to include 30,000 more beneficiaries for the social pension etc schemes.
"The move is good, however, the Social Welfare recently said that only birth certificate, School leaving certificate or Madhyamik admit card would be treated as valid documents as date of birth proof. Besides applicants need to provide PRTC also", he said.
How the aged people collect these documents. What is wrong with AADHAR CARD or voter's ID card, as used for so many years, for authentication of date of birth, Roy Barman asked and said all these are ploy of the BJP to create an elusive dreams and woo the voters.
