Tourism Minister of Tripura Sushanta Chowdhury serious concern over the ongoing chaotic situation in Bangladesh and questioned the role of the leaders of Bangladesh in normalising the situation.
Chowdhury also urged awakening of global consciousness to end the 'darkness' in Bangladesh.
He said in a social media post on Friday, once a land that fought valiantly for its independence, Bangladesh now stands at a crossroads, engulfed in fear, oppression, and silence.
The dreams of justice and human dignity, once enshrined in the country’s struggle for liberation, appear to be slipping away. Today, those who dare to dissent face brutal repression, and truth itself seems to carry a death sentence.
Refering to demolition of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation's residence at Dhanmondir, Chowdhury wrote, the words of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation, once symbolized hope and resilience. "Put my name next to the father of the raped girl; and write the address as House No. 32, Dhanmondi," he once declared, embodying his unwavering commitment to justice. Yet, the very ideals he championed now stand desecrated, as oppression tightens its grip on Bangladesh.
He lamented, in a country that once prided itself on its fight for liberation, speaking against injustice has become synonymous with persecution.
Those who seek accountability often find themselves behind bars—or worse, buried in silence. The state’s response to dissent is often swift and brutal, with bullets meeting peaceful protests and repression stifling freedom of expression.
The most vulnerable communities—Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians—find themselves under relentless attack. Temples are desecrated, religious festivals disrupted, and minority communities live in constant fear. Hate-driven violence has escalated. yet justice remains elusive.
Chowdhury asked, yet why is the world silent?
"The blood of the innocent continues to stain the streets - what is the role of Bangladesh’s leadership in this crisis period?"
The Minister also wondered how long will a nation’s fundamental ideals are trampled upon?
"The conscience of humanity must awaken before it is too late", he appealed in his post.
