Tripura Under-23 Cricket Team Struggles Continue: Batting Collapse Against Tamil Nadu in CK Naidu Trophy

Tripura's Under-23 cricket team is facing a series of disappointing defeats, largely due to consistent batting failures.

In their recent match against Tamil Nadu in the CK Naidu Trophy at the Narsingarh Police Training Academy ground, Tripura was bowled out for a paltry 106 runs, falling short by a significant margin of 159 runs in the first innings.

Tripura could only manage 106 runs in response to Tamil Nadu's formidable total of 265. Falling short by 159 runs, Tripura is now facing a follow-on.

It remains to be seen whether Tamil Nadu's captain will ask Tripura to ‘follow on’ tomorrow on the third day.
Even in the first two matches, Tripura bowlers had restricted the opposition to a low score.

However, the batsmen's irresponsible batting is pushing Tripura to the brink. In the last match against Karnataka, the batsmen had shown signs of recovery in the second innings.

It was hoped that the batsmen would bounce back against Tamil Nadu. But the opposite happened. The Tripura batsmen threw away their wickets with irresponsible batting.

Earlier, resuming at 191 for 7 on the first day, P Vignesh virtually pulled Tamil Nadu back into the game. Batting with a cool head, Vignesh proved that the pitch was not doing much.

Tamil Nadu batted for 113.3 overs and scored 265 runs. Vignesh remained unbeaten on 64 off 175 balls, hitting 3 boundaries and 2 sixes. Apart from him, VP Daran scored 26 runs off 126 balls, hitting 3 boundaries and 1 six.

For Tripura, Abhijit Debbarma took 5 wickets for 59 runs and Deeptanu Chakraborty took 2 wickets for 55 runs.

In reply, Tripura started well. The opening pair of Rituraj Ghosh Roy and Tanmay Das added 45 runs in 144 balls. After that, Tripura's innings collapsed.

Losing all their wickets in 58.3 overs, they could only manage 106 runs. For the team, Rituraj scored 24 off 81 balls, hitting 3 boundaries, Arindam Barman scored 17 off 46 balls, hitting 1 boundary and 1 six, Tanmay Das scored 17 off 75 balls, hitting 3 boundaries, Ananda Bhoumik scored 15 off 36 balls, and Sahil Sultan scored 10 off 46 balls, hitting 1 boundary.

No other batsman in the team could stay at the crease. For Tamil Nadu, Sachin Rathi took 4 wickets for 30 runs, G Govind took 1 wicket for 14 runs, and P Vignesh took 2 wickets for 22 runs.

The Tamil Nadu cricketers will aim to win the match and get bonus points.
