Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman flagged off a solar panel fitted 'Tripura Gramin Bank on Wheels' van on the lawn of a private Hotel in Agartala on Friday.
NABARD financed the project which is the first of its kind in Tripura as well as in the North Eastern Region under the Financial Inclusion.
The special feature of the Van is that all Banking activities will be done using solar energy.
One Business Correspondent (BC) will be available in the Van and BC will provide different banking facilities.
The TGB on Wheels will provide a host of services including ATM facilities for customers of all banks.
Besides, people will get Basic Banking services like Account Opening, Cash deposit and withdrawal, fund transfer, Mini statements and Passbook updates.
Besides, the TGB on Wheels van will offer different Aadhar-based services like e-KYC for Account Opening, Aadhar-enabled fund transfers and transactions in SHG accounts etc.
People will also be able to access several Jan Suraksha Schemes like Atal Pension Yojana(APY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
During the TGB on Wheels van flagging off ceremony, among others, Chairman of NABARD Shaji KV, TGB Chairman Satyendra Singh, MD of PNB Atul Kumar Goel, CGM of PNB Sunil Kumar Chugh, DGM of PNB, Uday Chandra and chairmen of different RRBs of the North East, top officers of the nationalized banks, officials of the Finance Ministry and Finance departments of Tripura and other NE states.
After flagging off the Tripura Gramin Bank on Wheels Van, Nirmala Sitharaman interacted with 121 BCs of the TGB. According to TGB sources, the Union Finance Minister hailed the performance of the TGB in strengthening the rural economy of the State.
Later, Sitharaman chaired a review meeting of the regional rural banks(RRBs), in the participation of officials of several nationalized and Rural Regional Banks (RRBs) at Agartala.
