As part of the new decision, the Cabinet has lifted the previous restriction that disqualified government employees and pensioners from receiving the benefits under the scheme.
With this policy change, all Pradhan Samajpatis—whether currently employed or retired—will now be entitled to the monthly honorarium, provided they are duly elected or selected.
In addition to broadening the eligibility criteria, the Cabinet has also sanctioned a substantial increase in the monthly honorarium. The revised rate will see Pradhan Samajpatis receiving Rs 5,000 per month, up from the earlier amount of Rs 2,000.

This decision underscores the government’s recognition of the essential role played by Pradhan Samajpatis in upholding the cultural heritage, traditional practices, and societal values of Tripura’s indigenous tribal communities.
