First of its kind in India, Heart of Humanity brings boon for needy in Agartala

‘Heart of Humanity’ is a unique philanthropic initiative of an NGO, Purvaudaya in Tripura.

Little heart of a 4-year old Ankita Sahani was filled with sadness as her father denied buying a dress for her to celebrate her birthday. The daily wage earner father was also feeling let down for his inability to fulfill his youngest daughter’s demand.

With a heavy heart, the helpless father stepped outside of his small dwelling at Bihari Basti in Radhanagar. Soon, his little daughter cheerfully said, “Papa, let’s go to the ‘Heart of Humanity’ outlet”.

Heart-Humanity-PurvaudayaHe looked at his daughter’s smiling face - sadness replaced with a sense of overwhelming bliss. Without wasting a moment, the father and his little princess rushed to the ‘Heart of Humanity’ outlet near Radhanagar Bus Stand.

‘Heart of Humanity’ is a unique philanthropic initiative of an NGO, Purvaudaya. Journey of the Heart of Humanity started on July 23 last year. Purvaudaya set up three outlets in Agartala - at Radhanagar, GB Bazar and Shankar Chowmuhani – that continued serving needy people every day and without a break during last one year.

Heart of Humanity, the first of its kind in India, is a unique initiative to empower underprivileged people. Anyone in need can pick up food items, clothes, shoes, toys, chocolates and other essentials without spending a single penny from these outlets.

The objective of this unique venture is ‘to let heart beating continue’ with empathy. The outlets are providing food, clothes etc free of cost needy persons so that underprivileged men, women and children can get a chance to live a decent life.

The qualitative change that the Heart of Humanity influenced is obvious, at least, in case of rickshaw pullers. Couple of years ago, they used to wear torn and old clothes. However, during last one year, a change took place in their attire – almost all the rickshaw pullers in Agartala are now wearing shirts and pants. Pradip Nama, a resident of Jogendra Nagar said, we do not have any dearth of good clothes now as I can bring clothes from one of Heart of Humanity outlets when needed.

Another significant achievement of this initiative is spontaneous participation of common people in keeping the outlets running successfully.

This people-centric venture became an instant hit among the people – both the receivers and donors.

The Heart of Humanity initiative has taken Tripura to a new height as its successful run aptly highlighted generosity of people of Tripura in standing by the side of underprivileged persons.

One unknown poet rightly wrote a verse, “Delhi Nagar dilwalo ka/ Mumbai meri jaan/ Bangal kheli sanskaro se/ Tripura mein insaan”.

And with so many Insaan are ready to contribute, how can the heart of little Ankita remain depressed. So she with her father visited Radhanagar Heart of Humanity outlet. She got a colourful dress, in addition, she picked up a pair shoes and chocolates – all free of cost.

Happy after ‘marketing’, Ankita’s father came to know that July 23 is also the anniversary day of Heart of Humanity. Let Heart beating continues always, he murmured.
