July 04, 2018: Besides the Prime Minister, BJP President Amit Shah, and many Union Ministers described the decision on MSP hike as historic. Farmers have welcomed the decision to increase MSP, while economists believe it will boost the economy as well.
Fulfilling a promise made to farmers of the nation, the NDA government announced a huge increase in the minimum support price for Kharif crops for the 2018-19 season. Chaired by Prime Minister Modi, Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the increase in the MSPs for all kharif crops. Prime Minister congratulated the farmers on the historic decision.
In a tweet he said that, Government is committed to take every initiative which is necessary for development of agriculture and welfare of the farmers. We have been taking decisions in this regard, and will continue to take important steps in future also.
BJP has complimented the centre and the PM for taking the decision. Many union ministers have wholeheartedly welcomed the historic step. The farmer community is also happy with the decision.
The decision of the CCEA is a historic one as it redeems the promise of the pre-determined principle of fixing the MSPs at a level of at least 150 percent of the cost of production announced by the Union Budget for 2018-19 and will go a long way in securing finacial health of the farmers in the country.
