February 03, 2018: India has lifted the ICC Under-19 World Cup for the record fourth time. They defeated Australia by eight wickets at bay oval at Mount Maunganui in New Zealand, who were also eyeing the title for the fourth time. India achieved the target of 217 runs, with 67 balls to spare. They remained unbeaten throughout the contest.
India’s star batsman Manjot Kalra led his team to the victory as he made brilliant unbeaten century riding on eight fours and three sixes. He was adjudged Man of the Match and Shubman Gill Man of the Series.
Earlier, Indian bowlers put up a splendid show as they bowled Australia out for 216 in 47.2 overs as it chose to bat first after winning the toss.
For Australia, Jonathan Merlo was the top scorer with 76 runs, but he received very little support from the rest of the batting order. For India, Ishan Porel, Anukul Roy, Shiva Singh and Kamlesh Nagarkoti took two wickets each. (AIR News)
