Intl dialogue on WED demands protection of Environment for Survival of Living Beings

In an international dialogue on World Environment Day (WED) experts demanded protection of environment for the survival of living beings.

Global Forum for Sustainable Rural Development (GFSRD) partnered with Agrawal Kanaya Mahavidyalaya and Sukhadiya University, Rajasthan, India along with 36 other institutions like Global Peace Let’s Talk (UK), World Congress for Environment (Egypt) to organize online event on World Environment Day (WED).

 

The chief guest of the event Prof. Gangaram Jakher, ex-Vice-Chancellor, Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner; Special guest Prof. B. R. Bamaniya, Dept. of Earth Science, Sukhadiya University, Udaipur; Omprakash Gupta Dharmkanta, Chairman, Agrawal Sikshan Sansthan, Prof. L. N. Harsh, Jodhpur and Maria Christina Endarwati, ST. MIUEM, NIT, Indonesia addressed in the event.

The Chief Guest in his address said that the environment is deteriorating and forest area is shrinking continuously. He expressed his deep concern over the adverse effect of organic plastic on the environment. The chairman of the institute thanked all the participants and described the importance of protection of the environment for the survival. He said that pollution is a major problem for the environment.

 

World-Environment-DayAbout 25-30 national and international environmental scientists expressed their views and about 2000 participants from various parts of the country joined and benefitted from the event.

 

Experts working in grassroots raised the Issues related to agriculture, food security, river ecology, urbanisation, use of plastics as main concern for ecological restoration.  

 

Dr. Jayanta Choudhury, NIRDPR-NERC, India and Dr. Abhinandan Saikia, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Guwahati campus Chaired and Moderated the session respectively.

 

Mustapha Kamal Zulkarnain, GFSRD, Malaysia;  Raju Pandit Chhetri, Prakriti Resources Centre (PRC), Nepal; Tapas Ranjan Chakraborty, BRAC, Bangladesh; Janine Bosch-Wessels, Nala Women4Women, South Africa; Babekir Adam Sharif, Peace Organization for Rural Development, Sudan; Prof. M. G. Ranjitkar, NIHE, Nepal; Prof. W.M. Nosier, WCE, Egypt were panellists for the session.

 

Pankaj Gupta, general secretary, Agrawal Shikshan Sansthan thanked the students participated in this event and expressed his gratitude towards the environmental experts. All the environmentalists hold global warming, organic plastic and rising population responsible for damage to the environment. They emphasized the protection of environment for the survival of living beings.

 

At the end, the event convener, Dr. Satya Prakash Mehra, Principal of the college thanked all the members and participants who were part of this online event.
