January 19, 2018: In Jammu and Kashmir, A BSF jawan was martyred, two civilians were killed and nineteen others including two BSF jawans got injured as Pakistan’s forces today again resorted to heavy mortar shelling along the International Border and Line of Control in four bordering districts of Jammu region.
Defence sources told AIR that Pakistani forces early morning resorted to unprovoked shelling in Arnia and R S Pura sectors of Jammu and also targeted villages and hamlets in Ramgarh sector of Samba and Hiranagar sector of Kathua. The Pakistan army also resorted to unprovoked shelling in Nowshera sector along the Line of Control in Rajouri district this afternoon.
AIR correspondent reports that the BSF and Army troops guarding the border gave a befitting reply to Pakistani shelling and exchange of fire continued till this evening.
Panic has triggered among the people living along the border as the range of Pakistan’s mortar shelling had increased to certain kilometres inside. The buildings, infrastructure and livestock have also suffered huge damages in the shelling. People have been shifting to safer places. All the schools in the border areas have been closed till the next order.
A BSF soldier was martyred and a girl was killed while six persons were injured in Pak firing in Arnia, Ramgarh and RS Pura areas yesterday. (AIR News)
