March 27, 2018: Karnataka will go to polls to elect a new assembly on 12th of May and counting of votes will be taken up on the 15th.
With the announcement of the schedule, the model code of conduct has come into force in the state.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi today, Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat said, over 4.96 crore people will exercise their franchise for 224 seats.
He said, VVPATs will be used with EVMs during the polling. Mr Rawat said 450 special polling stations will be managed by women.
He said the limit for expenses for candidates is Rs. 28 lakh. (AIR NEWS)
