May 20, 2018: All India BJP president Amit Shah today hailed the role of NEDA in enhancing co-ordination among the North Eastern States and foster development. Amit Shah addressed the third North East Democracy Alliance (NEDA) conclave at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalashetra, Panjabari in Guwahati today. He focused on objectives of forming NEDA and said, NEDA is not only a political alliance, it is a geo-cultural alliance to bring together all communities of the region”. He accused previous Governments on corruption and said, the ‘Briefcase’ Politics has changed into ‘Development’ Policies under BJP rule in the region and Centre.
Among others All India BJP general Secretary Ram Lal, NEDA Convener cum Assam Minister Dr Himant Biswa Sharma, BJP’s Sangathan Mantri of North East, Ajay Jamwal and Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb along with Chief Ministers of other North East states were present. Besides, all the BJP MLAs and IPFT MLAs from the State as well as other BJP MLAs, leaders were also present in the Conclave.
Amit Shah focused upon rich cultural heritage the North Eastern people and said, “There are 217 communities living in the region with diverse cultural and lingual traditions. BJP eyes at unifying and developing the region with emphasis on preserving cultural heritage of communities”. He detailed about PM Modi’s vision on development of the region and clearly said, the region has come out of days of separatism and narrowness – peace and harmony have returned in the region during last four years of Modi’s rule.
On financial aspects, Shah said, the BJP-led Government has increased fund allocation significantly for the development in the region with emphasis on connectivity. He said, “In 14th Finance Commission the allocation was hiked by 258 per cent. In 13th Finance Commission, UPA Govt allocated much less for the North Eastern Region.
