The Agartala Smart City Mission has decided to construct two eye-catching structures of gates at two different entry points of the city highlighting the two special tourist spots to showcase tourism potentials of the state.
The first one will be constructed at Khayerpur. Here a gate will be made which will replicate Unakoti – the beautiful land of less than a crore god and goddesses.
Notably, Unakoti is one of tourist spots in Tripura located amidst virgin nature. The place has huge rock reliefs depicting the Lord Shiva and other gods. Unakoti is Shiva pilgrimage. Every year, a big fair, known as Ashokastami mela is held in the month of April and draw large number of devotees as well as tourists.
A replica of Unakoti at Khayerpur will remind travellers of diverse cultural heritage of Tripura, sources said.
And the second one will come up at Amtali, the Southernmost part of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC). After extension of the AMC areas, Amtali will come under AMC. At Amtali, travellers will be greeted through the giant structure of replica of Neermahal -the palace in lake.
Neermahal was built by Maharaja of Tripura kingdom Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur. Located in the middle of Rudrasagar – a lake, Neermahal is only one of its kind in Eastern India.
DM West Tripura district Dr Sailesh Yadav along with officials of the Smart City Mission paid a visit to the site and said that soon the construction works will begin.
“We have altogether 66 projects running under Agartala Smart City Mission. Among these projects, these two gates are also included. The first one will be set at Khayerpur that will replicate the beauty of Unakoti and the second one will depict Neermahal and Matabari”, he said.
