Agartala (Tripura) Mar 30: Amidst despondency and frustration, Opposition Parties today rapped the State Government over the Apex Court verdict relating to termination of 10323 teachers.  Facebook users today strongly pitched for actions against concerned Bureaucrats.

According to available information, several terminated teachers fell ill during the day after yesterday’s verdict. Large number of teachers belonging to 10,323 group today abstained from attending schools.

Meanwhile all the major political parties have launched scathing attack on the State Government and demanded resignation of the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and State Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty. Opposition Parties alleged that fate of 10323 teachers had become bleak because of lack of farsightedness as well as faulty recruitment policy.

Yuva Morcha, the Youth wing of BJP, held a protest rally and later registered an FIR against the Manik Sarkar and Tapan Chakraborty. Morcha alleged about large scale corruption in 10323 teachers’ recruitment.

Trinamool Congress demanded publication of white paper by the State Government detailing steps that the Govt are mulling to provide support to the terminated teachers. TMC also demanded holding an all-party meet to discuss issues arising in the aftermath of Supreme Court verdict. TMC will organize a protest rally in Agartala tomorrow.

Like TMC and BJP, Pradesh Congress also demanded resignation of Sarkar and Chakraborty. In addition, Congress leaders demanded proper rehabilitation of all the terminated teachers.

It is obvious from prevailing situation that termination of 10323 teachers will become a major political issue before 2018 Assembly election. Buoyant after landslide victory in UP, BJP is leaving no scope to attack the ruling party.

However, being at Centre and apart from political campaigns, large section of terminated teachers hoped that BJP State Unit would come forward and play a role in finding out a solution for terminated teachers. Instead, BJP has restricted itself, at least till now, in bashing the ruling party only.

On demand for resignation of CPM Ministers, a group of terminated teachers opined, “It may be important to political leaders but for us it does not matter whether Chief Minister resigns or not as CM’s resignation or even arrest will be solve our problems. We want a solution which will allow us to live with dignity”.

Facebook users today raised an important point – why concerned Bureaucrats who were supposed to guide the Government in formulating proper recruitment policy, will not be punished.

Some even alleged, Bureaucrats wanted to be in good books of the Government so that they can get job under State Government even after retirement. In fact two of the concerned Bureaucrats are at present serving the Government after retirement.
