GDP up & inflation under control, says PM

New Delhi: Nov 6:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said Indian economy is doing better by almost every major economic indicator after his government came to power.

Inaugurating the Delhi Economics Conclave in New Delhi, Modi said, the growth of the GDP is up and inflation is under control.

He said that the country should reform to transform the life of the citizens of the country, particularly the poor.

The Prime minister said that the economy was doing better in all the parameters like GDP, fiscal deficit, revenue .

Modi said that JAM (Jan-Dhan Aadhar Mobile) Vision for him means just about achieving maximum in all the parameter of reforms.

He said, the government has entered into a monetary framework agreement for the first time with Reserve Bank of India to curb inflation.

He said government has taken a slew reforms to put economy on the growth path. Modi said major steps have been taken to improve efficiency, including clear performance measures and accountability mechanisms.

He said accounts opened under Jan Dhan Yojana have a total balance of almost 26000 crores rupees. He said India has a lot of entrepreneurial energy and this needs to be harnessed so that we become a nation of job-creators rather than job seekers.

Prime Minister said, reform should help all citizens and especially the poor to achieve a better life, leading to inclusive development. Modi said about 10,500 crore rupees of black money from abroad has been detected and assessed.

Lauding the work done by surface transport ministry he said pace of award of new highway projects rose to 23.4 km per day currently from 5.2 km in 2012-13.

Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said high growth is best antidote to poverty. He said public investment has to take lead till private investment picks up.
