June 09, 2018: The Verma Committee is likely to submit its report to the Chief Minister Biplab Deb on June 12. The Chief Minister is expected to fly to Delhi with the report on June 16 for discussion with Central Ministers. It is likely that the report will be placed on Budget session of the State Assembly on June 19.
The three-member expert committee was constituted on March 27 last for implementation of recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) in the State. The Committee was headed by former Assam Chief secretary PP Verma. The Committee was scheduled to submit its report within 90 days after formation.
Implementation of 7th CPC was a major pre-poll promise made by BJP. State Government employees are eagerly waiting for the fulfilment of the poll promise.
