Agartala, Aug 10: With the 79th Independence Day just days away, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday participated in the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ march, urging people to celebrate the ideals of freedom. He was accompanied by State BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee.
Launched under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign runs from August 2 to 15 and encourages every household to hoist the national flag. The Ministry of Culture serves as the nodal authority for the programme, aimed at fostering patriotism and raising awareness about the Indian national flag.
As part of the initiative, the Chief Minister, along with party leaders, distributed the national flag across various neighbourhoods in Agartala, focusing especially on children and women. They moved through residential areas, personally handing out the Tricolour and encouraging residents to display it at their homes and public places.

Addressing the gathering, Saha underlined the importance of the campaign in inspiring the younger generation to learn about the national flag, the sacrifices of freedom fighters, and India’s long struggle for independence. He noted that Tripura has been observing the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ programme in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for the past two years.
This year’s campaign began on August 2 and is being held in three phases, culminating in Independence Day celebrations on August 15. “Through this drive, we are not only showing respect to the National Flag, but also paying tribute to the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and the dedication of those safeguarding our sovereignty,” Saha said, adding that the movement is meant to ignite patriotism in every citizen.
