March 30, 2018: To give the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana a significant push and to reach out to the economically disadvantaged women folks of the state with the promise of economic progress, improved health and a better life; a Mobile Van campaign was launched for awareness building regarding Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in Tripura. The first PMUY Awareness Mobile Van was flagged off by Chief Minister of Tripura Sri Biplab Kumar Deb. The occasion was also graced by Manoj Kanti Deb, Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Narendra Chandra Debbarma, Minister for Revenue, Fisheries.
The Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb flagged off 50 Mobile publicity Vans for helping PMUY reach every corner of Tripura.
The Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb, in his inaugural address, emphasized on this end the agony that economically disadvantaged women as been facing while cooking in smoky kitchens. “It is my dream to wipe the tears that rolls down the cheeks of my mothers and sisters due to kitchen smoke”, the Chief Minister said, “Prime Minister of India has dream of a smoke free India and we are committed to make it a reality”. Deb expressed gratitude for Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for launching the PMUY drive in Tripura and asserted that within next 100 days 1 lakh BPL connections would be handed out to BPL families of the state with the support of Indian Oil.
