State unit of Congress burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah protesting against notice asking AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi to vacate her Government Bungalow at Lodhi Estate in New Delhi. Activists gathered near Congress Bhawan in Agartala and shouted slogans against Modi and Shah. Congress leaders and supporters strongly condemned the move and burnt effigies of the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.
In a press statement, former TPCC chief Gopal Roy came down heavily on Modi-led Government and termed the move as ‘politically motivated’. Condemning the decision, Roy said, “Priyankaji is not only the general secretary of AICC but also daughter of our late P,M. Bharat Ratnna Rajib Gandhiji who was assassinated for the United India. Same threats are still prevailing on Soniyaji,Rahulji and Priyankaji”. In this connection he also said, “Even late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpaiji also continued SPG security for all of three Gandhi family members. But unfortunately in a politically motivated decision, SPG protection for them was withdrawn by Modi Govt. Now they are after Priyankaji ‘s quarter which is funfair.”
