Seminar centered on the implementation and outcomes of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 held in Agartala.
Agartala (Tripura) Jul 26: The Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh, Tripura (Mahavidyala Shiksha) organized a day-long seminar centered on the implementation and outcomes of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 at Matangini Pritilata Hall in Agartala today.
Minister for Higher Education and Panchayat Department, Kishore Barman attended the seminar as the chief guest.
The workshop brought together professors, lecturers, and educators from different colleges, facilitating in-depth discussions on policy implementation and future strategies for academic advancement.
The Higher Education Minister stressed that NEP 2020 is a visionary policy designed to bring every child in India into the education system by the time they reach 18 years of age. He described the policy as a landmark move aimed at realizing the goal of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,’ which was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 29, 2020.
Barman highlighted several key achievements driven by reforms inspired by the NEP.
He noted that secondary education is undergoing a shift toward skill-based learning, preparing students to tackle real-world and career-oriented challenges. Meanwhile, the higher education sector is increasingly focused on promoting environments that prioritize knowledge and innovation.
“Over the past ten years, more than 390 new universities have been established across India, significantly expanding the nation’s educational infrastructure,” Barman said. “This growth includes the launch of 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), 20 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), along with a number of National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs).”
He also pointed out that to reduce regional imbalances in access to higher education, 22 universities have been set up in various states. This, he said, demonstrates the government’s strong commitment to equitable and inclusive academic development.

Tripura’s newly appointed Higher Education Minister reaffirmed that these reforms are helping bridge educational gaps while promoting academic excellence nationwide.
