Agartala, April 29, 2019: In an apparent attempt to convince the Election Commission of India to countermand the polls held at West Tripura parliamentary constituency on April 11 last and declare fresh polls instead, a high power team of All India Congress committee along with representatives of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee today met the election panel.
The high power team comprised the All India Congress leader Randeep Surjewalla, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Jairam Ramesh, Tripura Pradesh Congress committee president Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, Congress candidate of the West Parliamentary constituency Subal Bhowmik and senior vice-president of state Congress Pijush Biswas.
The team went to meet the Election Commissioner Sunil Arora to protest against the irregularities during the first phase of Lok Sabha election in the West Tripura parliamentary seat held on April 11. The team after meeting the poll panel expressed satisfaction and opined, the Congress is very much hopeful of fresh elections in that particular constituency.
TPCC vice-president Pijush Biswas said, the ultimate decision in this matter will be taken by the Election Commission, however the delegation is very much hopeful of fresh polls across the constituency.
