Agartala, April 29, 2019: Amid allegations of large-scale poll rigging and Oppositions’ demand for countermanding LS Polls in West Parliamentary Constituency held on APril 11, three Presiding Officers and two Micro Observers of West Tripura parliamentary constituency have been suspended for willful insubordination and dereliction of duty on the poll day.
Two micro observers are- Prof. Sangram Sinha of Tripura University and Bhasan Chandra Das, Executive Engineer of ONGC.
Three suspended presiding officers are- Promod Chandra Das, PGT of Bishramganj HS School, Goutam Debnath, PGT of Madhupur HS school and Giridhari Das, GT of Purba Gokulnagar HS school.
The Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) in his letter addressed to the Returning Officer of Tripura West parliamentary constituency said that the Micro Observers and Presiding Officers neither informed the General Observer about the booth capturing and vitiation of the poll process nor they reported the matter in their official reports.
The AROs of respective assembly segments have been asked to lodge FIR against the erring Micro Observers and Presiding Officers for their misconduct during the voting held on April 11 last.
