Agartala, Jun 05, 2019: Former CPIM State Committee member of Tripura, Mangaleshwari Debbarma (93) breathed her last this evening due to age-related ailments. She was the wife of former Chief Minister Dasarath Deb.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb expressed grief at the her demise and condoled the bereaved family. CPIM general secretary Sitaram Yechury, Politburo members Brinda Karat and Manik Sarkar, State CPIM secretary Gautam Das and other leaders also express condolences.
Mangaleshwari Debbarma got membership of undivided Communist Party in early 1953 and she was associated with Ganatantrik Naari Samiti since its inception. She became State Committee member of Tripura in 2008 and continued till 2015.
She was born at Rajghat in Lefunga block under present-day Mohanpur sub-division in West Tripura District. She also served State Women’s Commission as vice chairperson.
