Agartala, Jun 16, 2019: In a notable success against the smugglers, BSF jawans seized contraband items of worth Rs 23.50 lakhs from different areas in Sepahijala and Siuth Tripura district. In a press communiqué issued today, BSF said that the raids were conducted on night intervening June 15 and 16 in different parts of the State.
The press statement read, BSF troops deployed on the border have been conducting special operation against drug racketeers and seizing large number of drugs and arresting smugglers on regular basis. Maintaining the same zeal and devotion, on night intervening June 15, 16 2019, BSF troops seized 4,450 Nos of Yaba tablets worth more than Rs.22 Lakhs, 12.5 kgs of Ganja worth Rs.62,500/- and 571 Bottles of Phensedyl worth Rs.76,297/-from three different instances of seizure from the bordering areas of District Sepahijala and South Tripura. In addition to the above seizures, troops also succeeded in making seizure of Crackers worth Rs.2,31,750/- and 07 Nos of Cattle worth Rs.63,300/- from the various parts of the bordering areas of the State.
The first case of seizure of Yaba tablets was at G K Para Border Out Post, in which on June 15, 2019, acting on specific information about smuggling of Yaba tablets, the troops were alert and at about 12:10 PM, observed two miscreants approaching Indo-Bangladesh Border fence along with some packets in their hand with an intension to throw it over the fence from India to Bangladesh side. On being challenged by the troops, both miscreants fled away from the spot. BSF troops on search of the area recovered 550 Nos Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 2,75,000/- & 35 Bottles of Phensedyl worth Rs. 4,909/- from the spot. Seized items were handed over to PS P R Bari under district Tripura South.
In the second instance, on June 15 2019, at about 06:00 PM, BSF troops of Kamlasagar Border Out Post under PS Madhupur, recovered 500 Nos Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 2,50,000/-, 50 Bottles of Phensedyl worth Rs. 7,012/- & 121 Bottles of Esckuf Syrup worth Rs. 12,765/- from the spot, while the miscreants were trying to smuggle these items from India to Bangladesh. However, the miscreants managed to flee from the spot taking advantage of nearby built up area. The seized items were handed over to PS Madhupur under District Sepahijala.
In third case of smuggling activities, on the intervening night of June 15 and 16 June 2019, special vehicle patrolling party of Kalsimura Border Out Post, observed some unknown miscreants approaching towards the border fence with an intention to throw some items over the fence from India to Bangladesh side. Immediately, BSF troops challenged them to stop, but they did not pay any heed. The miscreants managed to flee from the spot taking advantage of darkness. On thorough search of the area, BSF troops recovered 3400 Nos Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 17,00,000/- from the spot. The seized items were handed over to PS Kalamchera under District Sepahijala.
