Agartala, Jun 04, 2019: Congress in Tripura – buoyed after better show in LS Polls compared to Assembly elections in 2018 – will give weightage to performances of its leaders rather than relying on face-value. As part of its drive to further consolidate its position in State politics, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) is mulling over reconstituting State Committee. Criteria for inclusion into TPCC is performance of our leaders in forth coming three tier Panchayat Polls, said TPCC chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma today.
The forthcoming Panchayat elections will be the deciding factors in judging performance of leaders. We will evaluate everyone’s performance after the results of Panchayat Polls and accordingly the PCC will be reformed, said the PCC president.
The Congress party, which has emerged as the second largest party in the last Lok Sabha elections in the State – the Party even gained lead in few of the assembly segments. Buoyed after Lok Polls compared to last Assembly poll drubbing, the Party is now looking forth to further consolidate its position in the state, said Pradyot Kishore. “I respect everyone in the party but those who are not interested to work for the people or for the interests of the party, could not be accommodated in any influential post,” he claimed.
Detailing about upcoming meetings of the Party, Pradyot Kishore also said, “We have convened a PCC meeting on Jun 09 next discuss the future perspectives of the party regarding approaching Panchayat elections. All the party leaders were invited to attend the meeting. Moreover, a meeting of ST Congress has been also called on tomorrow”.
Meanwhile, according to sources, there is a meeting lined up on June 11 next at the Congress headquarters of Delhi which will specifically focus on the future strategies of the party in the North Eastern Region.
