Agartala, February 22, 2019: Six-day long budget session of Tripura Assembly started today with paying homage and expressing condolences over the martyrdom of 40 CRPF troopers in the Pulwama terror strike on February 14. In his customary speech, the Governor also paid tribute to the CRPF and Army men who made supreme sacrifice for the motherland. He also conveyed condolences to the bereaved families.
All members of the House, cutting across party lines, paid homage to the CRPF jawans, who had been martyred in Pulwama terror strike on February 14 last. House Chairman Ashish Kumar Saha read out the condolence message and then Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, opposition leader Manik Sarkar, ministers and all legislators observed a two-minute silence.
While addressing the year’s first session on the opening day, the Governor appreciated the initiatives taken by the BJP-IPFT government with the principle ‘Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas’ since its formation.
He also said that the state government was trying hard to neutralize the drug menace and the drug hauls including ‘Ganza’ being seized by police across the state. He also appreciated the state government’s initiative in maintaining law and order and the power connectivity given to 1,36,320 households. He also detailed about State Governments achievements and activities.
Deputy Chief Minister cum Finance Minister Jishnu Dev Varman today tabled proposals for additional fund and Supplementary grants for the year 2018-19. In the second half of the first day of Budget session, the Minister placed the demand for Additional fund and supplementary grant. These were required after Budget 2018-19 to meet expenses and revision of pay. Jishnu Dev Varma will table the Budget for the financial year 2019-20 in House on second day of the session on Monday.
