As part of the national agitation, Tripura Pradesh Congress has started holding protest programmes from today across the State against the contentious Agri Bills. According to the decision of AICC, Tripura Pradesh Congress president Pijush Biswas held a press conference today highlighting different aspects of three Farm sector Bills – namely, Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill 2020, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) agreement on Price Assurance Farm Services Bill 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill 2020.
Later, Youth Congress activists brought out a torch rally in Agartala on Thursday evening opposing the Bills and demanded withdrawal of the Bills.
Lashing out at Central Government, Pijush Biswas alleged, Modi-led Government is adopting policies for the benefits of Industrialists at the cost of farmers and common masses. He claimed, present Agri Bills abolished the MSP facility. Biswas also alleged present Agri Bills will create food crisis in the country.
Talking about series of agitations, Pijush Biswas said, Congress activists and leaders participate in #SpeakUpForFarmers on September 26 through video posts in different social media platforms to scale up ante against BJP government on Agri Bills issue.
On September 28, Congress leaders and activists submit a memorandum to the Governor to send it to the President of India. He also mentioned that Congress activists in the State would initiate a campaign on October 2 at the grass root level to collect signatures of people including farmers as a mark of protest against the Agri Bills and the campaign will continue till October 31.
Congress will observe ‘Kishan Mazdoor Banchau Diwas’ on the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on October 2 next. State level Kishan conference will be held on October 10 next, Pijush said.
