ProMASS: Jan 19, 2017: Its time for journos to fasten seat belts! A robot has entered into the scene and written a 300-character long ‘item’ in ‘just a second’ only. Quoting scientists Media reports, a robot journalist made its debut in a Chinese daily newspaper on Wednesday.

Its author, a robot named Xiao Nan, took only a second to finish writing the item. The Robot has the ability to write both short stories and longer reports, according a professor at Peking University who leads the team studying and developing such robots.
Media reports, the robot has a stronger and quicker data analysis capacity as compared to humna journalists. Robot is also faster in writing stories. So, will it completely replace journalists? The answer is obviously a ‘no’as the robot can not conduct face-to-face interviews and can not respond intuitively. Moreover, the robot is incapable of selecting ‘news angles’. However, the robot can be act as a tool in helping newspapers and editors as well as reports.
