Solar illumination drive in rural areas under the Alok Jyoti Prakalp has started in Tripura. A total of 108 solar streets lights were installed in Ganganagar Bazar area of Dhalai district under Gramin Bazar Alok Jyoti Prakalp scheme. The total expense incurred for this purpose is Rs 21 lakh 60 thousand.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu DevVarma through a programme unveiled a slab and launched the Alok Jyoti Prakalp scheme on Saturday.
He said, the rural markets of the state are being equipped with solar light systems. A total of 15 thousand solar street lights will be installed in the rural markets of the state at the cost of Rs 40 crore. This will keep the rural markets illuminated after dusk, making it convenient for both buyers and sellers.
The Deputy Chief Minister said, the government has given priority to improving the socio-economic status of the people living in tribal areas. In the Aspirational Blocks, emphasis has been given to 100 days of work under the MNREGA.
The government is sincere towards developing remote areas like Ganganagar and implementing several developmental as well as welfare schemes for overall improvement in the socio-economic condition of people living in remote areas.
MDC Bhumikananda Reang, MLA Dhananjoy Tripura, Deputy Director of TREDA G. S Das, General Manager of NABARD M. R. Gopal also spoke on the occasion. The programme was presided over by Ganganagar BAC Chairman Gouranga Reang. The welcome speech was delivered by Director General of TREDA Mahananda Debbarma. A vote of thanks was delivered by Project Officer, TREDA Swaraj Debbarma.
