March 21, 2018: Pride of Tripura and an ace Tennis player Somdev Devvarma has been awarded with prestigious “Padma Shri”. In New Delhi, the President Ram Nath Kovind presented the award on March 20, 2018.
In a twit, PMO congratulated Devvarman and said, “A sportsman who has excelled at the world stage”.
Somdev won multiple Gold Medals in the Asian games and Commonwealth Games. Total 36 eminent persons received the Padma Shri Award for their distinguished achievements and contributions. Also four eminent persons received the “Padma Bhushan’ award while three including Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan were conferred the ‘Padma Vibhushan’ award.
