Kolkata, May 13: In a deeply tragic turn of events, Srinjoy Majumdar, also known as Pritam, the son of Rinku Majumdar, a prominent leader of BJP’s women’s wing and stepson of senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh, passed away under sudden and mysterious circumstances, sending shockwaves across political and social circles.

Initial Findings Point to Acute Hemorrhagic Pancreatitis

Preliminary results from the post-mortem conducted at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital suggest that acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis may have led to Pritam’s untimely death on Tuesday.

While the final autopsy report is still awaited, early medical observations highlight the severity of the condition, which involves inflammation and bleeding in the pancreas.

Body Discovered at New Town Residence

Pritam Majumdar’s lifeless body was found in his flat in New Town, Kolkata, earlier in the day. The unexpected death prompted an outpouring of concern and speculation among locals and political associates.

His body was subsequently taken for forensic examination, and initial assessments have leaned towards natural medical causes rather than foul play.

Suicide Speculations Unfounded, Say Doctors

Following the incident, rumors of a possible suicide began circulating. However, medical professionals have emphasized that early evidence does not support these claims. Hemorrhagic pancreatitis, a rare and critical condition, is believed to be responsible.

It occurs when pancreatic enzymes become active within the pancreas itself, causing severe internal inflammation and bleeding, often leading to fatal complications if not treated immediately.

Doctors also clarified that the condition may have been worsened by pre-existing health problems and ongoing medical treatments.

Medical Background Under Review

Reports indicate that Pritam was under treatment for multiple health issues and was on various medications. Investigators are exploring whether drug interactions or health complications may have triggered or intensified the episode of pancreatitis.

Family Ties and Recent Developments

The incident has drawn heightened media attention due to its political context. Pritam was the son of Rinku Majumdar from a previous marriage.

Following their marriage, Pritam had publicly expressed support for his mother’s decision to remarry but had not been present at the wedding, reportedly due to being out of town.

Career and Daily Life

Professionally, Pritam Majumdar worked with an Information Technology Enabled Services (ITeS) firm based in the Sector-5 area of Salt Lake. Colleagues described him as a committed professional with a stable work routine.

His unexpected death has left coworkers, friends, and relatives stunned, particularly as he reportedly exhibited no signs of distress or health decline in recent days.

Public Reaction and Condolences

The sudden demise has prompted condolences from several political leaders and members of the public. Given Dilip Ghosh’s stature in state and national politics, the incident has garnered widespread attention. Authorities have urged the public and media to refrain from speculation until the full post-mortem report is released.

Investigation Ongoing

Police and forensic experts are continuing to examine all aspects of the case. The final autopsy report is expected to offer a clearer understanding of the sequence of events and any contributing health factors. Officials have also appealed to the public to respect the family’s privacy during this period of grief.
