The BJP MLA of 7-Ramnagar Assembly constituency in Tripura, Surajit Dutta, was admitted to a private hospital in Agartala on Tuesday after his health conditions deteriorated.
The concerning situation prompted an immediate response from key political figures in the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha hurried to the hospital on Tuesday to assess the MLA’s condition personally.
In a social media post, Dr Saha wrote, “My party colleague and respected MLA of the 7-Ramnagar Assembly constituency, Shri Surjit Dutta, is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital due to physical illness.
I went to the hospital today and inquired about his treatment. I pray to Mother Tripura Sundari for Shri Dutta’s speedy recovery.”
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhoumik, also made a visit to inquire about the MLA’s health and wished the ailing MLA a speedy recovery.
Opposition leader of the State Assembly and TIPRA Motha Party MLA Animesh Debbarma rushed to hospital to check on Dutta’s health status. Afterward, Debbarma disclosed that MLA Surajit Dutta would be airlifted on Wednesday for advanced treatment outside the state.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder and other BJP leaders including Subal Bhowmik went to hospital.
Even as no official confirmation about health condition of Dutta was issued, sources claimed the health condition of the MLA is critical.
