With five more deaths on Monday, Covid19 situation in Tripura is fast becoming grim. While total death toll is inching forward to breach 80-mark, spike in number Covid19 positive cases remain unabated. While medical experts are arguing that there is solid indication suggesting community level transmission of Corona, State Government is also trying to rein in spreading the disease. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb chaired a Covid19 core committee meeting to access the emerging situation.
According to medical bulletin for Covid19, Five more COVID19 patients have succumbed to their infection on Monday, taking the tally to 78.
The transmission of novel coronavirus among the people is going unabated. Some of the health experts opined that the chain of transmission had almost started spreading its roots in the community level as new cases in good numbers are coming every day.
According to sources in the Health department, the figure may go higher if the number of tests is increased.
Cumulative total of Covid19 positive cases stand at 8902 with active cases being 2407 till August 24.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has on Monday chaired an important meeting along with Health officials, the members of state-level COVID19 core committee, to review the present COVID19 situation and discuss the ways to further strengthen the fight against novel coronavirus.
While taking a thorough review based on ground reports, the Chief Minister also held detailed discussions on the existing facilities and prescribed some plans to tackle the pandemic.
After the review meeting, Dr. Subrata Baidya of Community Medicine department said this in a press conference at the conference hall of Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC). The state government is emphasizing on hard immunity development, he added.
Dr. Tapan Majumder, Head of Microbiologist department, AGMC, also took part in the press conference and said, “To tackle the COVID19 situation, the state government has decided to start antibody test across the state from September 15 next.”
“Test is the most important part of the fight against COVID19. Now, we need to conduct maximum number of tests and cooperation from the people is needed in this regard. The people with any of the symptoms have to come forward for testing,” he said.
According to Dr. Majumder the necessary equipment for conducting the anti-body tests would be arriving in the state by second week of September. He informed the media that almost 80 to 90 percent COVID19 patients in the state were asymptomatic. He also claimed that there was no lack in the treatment facility for COVID19 patients and the Health staff were providing service as per the guidelines.
