June 13, 2018: At least three persons including a minor boy killed in flash flood and landslide in the State during last 24 hour. Flood situation in Kailashahar has deteriorated. The Chief Minister today Deb has undertaken an aerial survey of various areas in Unakoti district and monitoring the relief and rescue operations in the State. As per latest reports, 6054 families have been affected and 180 relief camps opened by the State Government in seven districts – Unakoti, North Tripura, Dhalai, Khowai, West Tripura, Gomati and South Tripura.

In a tweet CMO Tripura mentioned, “As per the latest update received on flood relief work in #Tripura as on 1900 hrs, 189 relief camps have been set up where more than 25,000 people have taken shelter.”
Meanwhile, rescue team today recovered floating body of Shankar Tripura of Chaukidaar Para in Manughat under Sabroom. Shankar Tripura went missing yesterday. As part of interim relief, family members of the deceased received Rs 10 thousand and additional Rs 5000 for conducting final rites of the deceased.
In another incidence, one Sudaho Mog (7) buried alive under mudslide. The incidence occurred at Gardang area under Santirbazar in South district last night. Sources said, Sudaho Mog along with his mother and elder brother was sleeping in their home at Gardang last night. However, due to incessant rains, a chunk of land near the house collapsed and Sudaho buried under the mud. His mother and elder son received injuries.
The Agriculture Minister Pranjit Singha Roy along with local MLA Pramod Reang and officers today met the bereaved family members. The Minister assured financial help of Rs 4 lakhs from the State govt fund and additional Rs 1 lakh from Chief Minister’s relief fund. He also handed over Rs 15000 for cremation and Rs 10000 for treatment of deceased’s mother and brother.
One Kanthamoni Debbarma (50) was washed away today at Mayan Bikram area under Khowai. Sources said, Kanthamoni along with her husband went to harvest paddy. She stepped into Samaruchhera but she fell on water due to heavy current in the rivulet. She was immediately swept away. Rescue team and local MLA along with officials of the administration rushed to the spot. Search operation is undergoing and no trace of the woman was found till filing the report.

In Kailashahar under Unokoti district, thousands were forced to take shelter in relief camps after flood water damaged and broke earthen dam at two places. The situation in Kailashahar is stated to grim and people are panicked.
The situation is threatening to become critical in Amarpur and Udaipur under Gomati district as water level in Damboor lake is swelling. Sources said, presently water level is at 93.25 meter. The Dam authority has already opened a sluice gate and if water level goes up – which is likely if there is more shower, authority will have to pull up another sluice gate. In such a case, large areas under Udaipur and Amarpur will sub-merge under flood water. Owing to possible danger, administration is alerting people using ‘Public Address system’ and getting ready to evacuate people to safer place.
