March 17, 2018: Stressing on generating financial awareness, the Chief Minister Bipab Deb today asked nationalized banks to improve the Credit-Debit (CD) ratio in the State as well as to expand ambit of Mudra Loan and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna at block level. The Chief Minister said this while was speaking at the 124th State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) meeting held in Agartala today.
“The current CD ratio stands at 46 per cent and it is important that Bank Officials focus on improving the ratio. Generating financial awareness among the common people is another important aspect so that people can reap benefits several Government schemes launched for creating avenues for jobs and employment”, Deb said. Presenting the outlook of new State Government, Deb said, the Government is eyeing to transform the State from “Job seekers” to “Job creators” and Banks will have crucial role in materializing this vision.

Assuring all sorts possible cooperation from the State Government, the Chief Minister asked the Bank Officials to bring more people under the coverage of ‘Mudra’ Yojna at the block level that aims to create jobs through entrepreneurship. He also stressed on expanding coverage on ‘Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna’ across the State.
Among others, MD and CEO of United Bank of India (also Chairman, SLBC Tripura) Pawan Kumar Bajaj, Chief Secretary Sanjeev Ranjan, MD and CEO of United Bank of India (also Chairman, SLBC Tripura) Pawan Kumar Bajaj, M Nagaraju (Principal Secretary-Finance, Industries and Commerce), Manoj Kumar (Principal Secretary-Urban Development), Tamal Biswas (GM and OIC, Reserve Bank of India), Sunil Kumar (GM-NABARD), Manas Dhar (GM-United Bank of India and Convener, SLBC Tripura) and other senior executives and officials from SIDBI were present in today’s meeting.
