Anti-employment’ policies of BJP drew sharp criticism from DYFI
DYFI state secretary Nabarun Deb criticized the BJP-led government for rising unemployment and drug abuse while addressing the 10th Sekerkot Local Committee Conference. The meet saw strong local participation, tributes to martyrs, and the formation of two new regional committees to strengthen organisational work.
Sekerkot, Nov 14: DYFI state secretary Nabarun Deb on Sunday accused the BJP-led coalition government of pursuing “anti-job policies” that have pushed the state’s unemployed youth into distress.
He claimed that drug abuse had risen sharply under the present government and many youths were being forced to migrate abroad for work.
Deb made the remarks while addressing the 10th Sekerkot Regional Conference of the DYFI. He urged workers to unite to change the current situation. He also stressed the crucial role of regional and unit-level leadership.
The conference was held at Sekerkot Purba Para. The area was decorated with organisational flags, flex banners and festoons. A strong response was witnessed from local residents.
The event began with the hoisting of the DYFI flag by regional president Babul Debnath. Leaders present at the venue paid floral tributes to martyrs who had laid down their lives for the organisation.
The delegates’ session was chaired by Kamal Mia, Babul Debnath and Anjana Das. DYFI state committee vice-president Arindam Biswas inaugurated the conference. State committee secretary Nabarun Deb, member Abul Hossain and several other leaders addressed the gathering. State committee member Khokan Ghosh and other functionaries were also present.
For organisational convenience, the existing regional structure was split into two separate committees. Tapas Das was elected secretary and Titon Das president of the Sekerkot Regional Committee.
In the newly formed Fultoli–Pandabpur region, Safikul Islam was elected president and Kartik Das secretary.
