Tripura Government in coordination several stakeholders is rolling out extensive campaign to keep youth away from drugs and realize the goal of making the State a Nesha Mukt Tripura, said ICA, Youth Affairs and Sports (YA&S) Minister Sushanta Chowdhury in Agartala on Wednesday (Nov 9).
The Minister chaired a high-level meeting in presence officials of the Education, Health, Police, ICA departments and other stakeholders today.
In the meeting, Sushanta Chowdhury reiterated the state government has adopted a zero tolerance policy against drug addiction.
“To keep the youths away from the clutches of drugs as well as make them aware of dire consequence of drug addiction, several cultural and sports activities are being carried out jointly with Zila Parishad of the eight districts, Home Department, YA&S, ICA, Health & Family Welfare, School Education, elementary education, Higher education departments, Tripura AIDS Control Society, National Health Mission, Tripura Sports Council, TTAADC, AMC, clubs and voluntary organizations”, he said in a facebook post.
Sushanta Chowdhury stressed the role of the State government departments, clubs and various voluntary organizations in the battle against drug addiction and said, if they help in every possible way, there will be great success in the anti-drug campaign.
“We must not let up in the fight against drug addiction in the state. We have to pull out our youth from the clutches of addiction at any cost with the collective efforts of all. Addiction is destroying the next generation. Those who are addicted to drugs should be identified and taken out of this condition”, the Minister said.
Today’s meeting was attended by, among others, Chairpersons of Zilla Parishads and their representatives of eight districts of the state, AMC, Department of Information & Culture/Youth Affairs & Sports, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Tripura Sports Council, Department of Home, Schools Department of Education/Department of Basic Education, Department of Higher Education, Tripura AIDS Control Society, Mission of National Health Mission, General Secretary of Tripura School Sports Board, representatives of TTAADC and other senior officials.
