 Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha inaugurated a three-day public welfare camp at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, Agartala, highlighting Central and state government schemes, Northeast development, governance reforms, and welfare initiatives. Agartala: Tripura has launched a special public welfare campaign to increase awareness about various government schemes among citizens. The three-day state-level welfare camp started at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha inaugurated the programme. The event was organised to mark the completion of 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led Central Government.

The camp will continue until June 16. Citizens can visit the camp between 11 am and 4 pm to learn about welfare schemes implemented by the Central and Tripura governments.

The state government has also planned similar programmes across different locations. These include Agartala Municipal Corporation areas, blocks, municipal councils, and Nagar Panchayats from June 15 to June 17.

Northeast Development Gets Focus Under Act East Policy

During the inauguration, Chief Minister Manik Saha said northeastern states are moving ahead with India’s overall development journey. He highlighted improvements in GDP growth, tourism, and connectivity across the region.

According to the Chief Minister, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Policy has played an important role in strengthening development activities in the Northeast.

He also mentioned that the NITI Aayog recently conducted a separate meeting with Chief Ministers of northeastern states for the first time to discuss regional development issues.

CM Saha said the initiative reflects the Central Government’s focus on accelerating development in the Northeast.

Government Initiatives and Governance Reforms in Tripura

The Chief Minister said the concept of “Team India” is guiding the country’s development process. He added that state governments are working with the Central Government to implement welfare-oriented policies.

He highlighted several initiatives, including:

CM Saha also discussed governance reforms in Tripura. He said e-office services have been introduced from the Cabinet level to the three-tier Panchayat system.

The state has also established a Good Governance Department to improve administrative efficiency.

Tripura Reports Progress in Economy and Welfare

The Chief Minister said Tripura has made progress in several development indicators. He stated that the state ranks second among northeastern states in terms of GSDP and per capita income.

He also highlighted healthcare coverage expansion across the state.

According to him, Tripura currently has more than 1.08 lakh Lakhpati Didis. The government has set a target to increase this number by another 25,000.

The initiative focuses on strengthening women’s economic participation through self-help groups and livelihood opportunities.

Sarbananda Sonowal Highlights Tripura’s Development Journey

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal also addressed the gathering. He said Tripura has witnessed major development changes after 2018.

Dr Saha stated that the transformation has improved social and economic conditions in the state. The Chief Minister added that the Tripura government is working on women empowerment, youth employment, and economic growth under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sonowal said improvements in education, healthcare, and connectivity are helping people across communities.

He also highlighted the government’s claim that nearly 25 crore people across India have moved out of poverty during the last 12 years.

Northeast Emerging as Investment and Tourism Destination

The Union Minister described the Northeast as an important growth engine for India. He said the region has gained confidence and new opportunities in tourism and investment sectors.

He stressed that peace remains essential for development. According to him, around 10,000 insurgents from different northeastern states have returned to the mainstream during the current government’s tenure.

Sonowal also discussed plans to improve Tripura’s connectivity with international trade routes. He said the state’s river network and access through Bangladesh towards the Bay of Bengal can create new economic opportunities.

Exhibition Showcases Government Schemes

Before the inauguration, Chief Minister Manik Saha, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and other dignitaries opened an exhibition displaying various Central and state government schemes.

A documentary highlighting 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government was also screened during the programme.

The event was attended by MLA Abhishek Debroy, Information and Cultural Affairs Department Secretary Dr. P.K. Chakraborty, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, West Tripura Zilla Parishad acting Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil, government officials, elected representatives, and citizens.
