Four Bangladeshi nationals were arrested while they were entering Assam via Tripura on Friday.

According to sources, the four Bangladeshi nationals sneaked into Tripura illegally and were heading to Guwahati in a Night service bus.

They crossed the Indo-Bangla international border through Harishpur Tea Garden at Kamalasagar under Sepahijala district in Tripura. From there, these four people travelled to Agartala city and boarded a Guwahati bound inter-state Night service bus.

The four Bangladeshi persons managed to evade attention of Tripura Police, however, their luck ran out as the bus entered Assam. The bus crossed Tripura through Churaibari, but they were nabbed by the Assam Churaibari Police personnel. All of the four persons failed to produce any valid documents. These arrested persons will be produced before Karimganj Court on Saturday.

It remains unknown as to whether these four people were involved directly or indirectly with the recent attacks on Hindus and vandalism of Durga pandals and temples in Bangladesh. Interrogation by the Assam Police may reveal the real motive of these intruders.

Meanwhile, intrusion of four Bangladeshi through bordering areas in Tripura has become a concern as the prevailing situation in Tripura is poised delicate in the wake of atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh. Such kind of intrusion into the territory of Tripura demands strengthening the border vigil by BSF across the state.

It is also a matter of concern that four Bangladeshi persons travelled from Kamalasagar to Churaibari via Agartala without being noticed. However, Assam Police caught them at the first entry point checking. Tripura Police need to introspect and bolster its surveillance across the State.
