Tinku inaugurates Khelo Dharmanagar season 2A Month-Long Celebration of Sports

“Khelo Dharmanagar Season 2” promises an exhilarating month ahead with 33 events tailored for participants of all ages. Athletes from across the Dharmanagar subdivision will compete in a variety of events, ensuring a vibrant showcase of talent. The organizers have also thoughtfully included engaging games for children and elderly women, such as Ludo, making this a truly inclusive event for participants ranging from 8 to 80 years of age.

Sports as a Catalyst for Growth

In his speech, Sports Minister Tinku Roy lauded “Khelo Dharmanagar” as a transformative platform for nurturing local talent and shaping future champions who will bring glory to the state. Reflecting on past challenges, he mentioned the lack of youth hostels in the undivided North and Dhalai districts, which hindered the organisation of major tournaments outside Agartala. However, with the recent inauguration of a youth hostel in Ambassa, players now have better opportunities to participate in significant events.

The Minister also emphasized the changing perception of sports among young people. “Earlier, sports were seen merely as a means of physical exercise. Today, it is a pathway to success and recognition, with emerging players carving out promising careers. Besides, sports play a vital role in steering youth away from addiction and toward a brighter future,” he said.

Building a Legacy

Dharmanagar MLA Biswabandhu Sen expressed optimism about the growing success of “Khelo Dharmanagar”. He envisioned an even grander Season 3 next year featuring participation from 7,000 to 8,000 artists.

“Dharmanagar subdivision will soon prove that it stands on par with, if not ahead of, other subdivisions in the state,” he asserted.

With its inclusive vision and a robust framework, “Khelo Dharmanagar Season 2” is not just a sporting event but a celebration of community spirit and talent, setting the stage for a brighter future for Tripura’s athletes.
