Indigenous people of Tripura experienced development after the Leftists came into power in 1978, CPIM State secretary and Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP) leader Jitendra Choudhury said at Ambassa under dhalai district in Tripura on Monday (Dec 5)
Choudhury also racked up demands relating to Kokbarok – the language of the many Indigenous communities in Tripura – and transferring power to the Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
The Tribal wings of the Leftists, GMP and TYF jointly organized a rally and public meeting in Ambassa today. Jitendra Choudhury and TYF leader Amalendu Debbarma led the rally.
“Development remained elusive before the Left Front came into power in Tripura in 1978. The Left Front Government in its total 35 years tenure – 10 years at a stretch and after a 5-year gap, for another term of successive 25 years – worked tirelessly for the welfare of the indigenous people”, Jitendra Choudhury said.
He also referred to expansion of education, health and road connectivity in Indigenous dominated areas during the Left Front regime.
Choudhury demanded inclusion of the Kokbarok language in the 8th Schedule and amendment of the Constitution to transfer additional power to the TTAADC. In addition, the CPI-M leader also demanded restoration of law and order condition in the State.
Criticizing the incumbent BJP-led government, Choudhury alleged Left Front was ousted from power in the 2018 Assembly polls due to a deep rooted conspiracy. He further alleged BJP leaders misguided the youths and employees with false promises – he, however, did not blame Biplab Kumar Deb or Dr Manik Saha, instead, he held Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and other top notch BJP leaders including Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma responsible.
Choudhury dubbed the ongoing ‘Sushason’ as a new trap before the upcoming Assembly Polls. He said, the Government has launched ‘Sushason’ even as there is no job for the unemployed youths, dearth of funds for road repairing and other developmental works.
He also referred to attacks on the opposition party leaders and activists and claimed that people of every household in the State is readying to give BJP a befitting reply in the upcoming election.
